I love living at my dorm (well, ISH, except for the vermin wtf) but I hate that I don't have cable. Scratch that, I hate that I can't AFFORD cable. I don't have a TV either, but that's more because I hardly see the point of having a TV, which I know I will compulsively leave on for the duration of the time that I stay inside my dorm room, but only being able to access GMA and QTV. I can't get ABS-CBN in my dorm, for some reason, and that, not counting ETC and Studio 23, is the only station I can actually sit through--but only for the NEWS, I should say, which appeals to me more for voyeuristic reasons than anything. Which, to be fair, sounds a lot like Facebook's appeal. Anyway, nor do I have a fast enough internet connection that can stream CNN. And even though I can do that, I still like watching on TV better, because you can just passively take it in. You can do that here too, but I guess it's psychological. I miss ACoop and Larry King and the IDesk. Heck, I even miss Richard Quest's voice (even though I'm not really into his shit, I'm just usually awake when his show goes on), and waiting for Mari Ramos to mention yet another typhoon coming the Philippines' way. I have this weird fascination at how apparently rare it is for people who don't live in the Philippines (or other tropical countries) to hear about ITCZ, which we all hear almost nightly in the local weather forecasts. At CNN it only came up when that Air France jet crashed into the ocean; I was completely surprised when they had to explain what it was and how it could have possibly affected the weather en route Rio to Paris. I miss waiting for whoever's on TalkAsia, because sometimes they do have people I actually know--like that time they interviewed Edison Chen (lol how teener of me)--and all other times, people that I could have some potential interest in, so I guess I learn a pretty damn lot. And I like watching Mylene Klaas too, not just because she's Filipino (HELLO INGGIT), but because she's a classical musician AND reports for CNN. HELLO, INGGIT! How completely LAME* is it that THESE ARE MY SUMMER MEMORIES? My summer consisted of watching CNN until that Sports guy came on and I fell asleep to the drone of news of people hitting balls, or shooting balls, or Cristiano Ronaldo being paid an exorbitant amount to go with...was it Portugal? Well, anyway, that or staying up until ACoop is on at 9am if something else interesting was on and I managed to stay through the night and till morning. *Well, you know, relatively...though the dork/voyeur in me is pretty satisfied, to be quite honest. Also this is probably me scratching my writing itch...I haven't really been spewing as much verbal vomit lately so yeah. Better talk about this than other shit, I guess. ACoop is sad I don't watch him as much anymore.
